Purpose

Foster Care provides safe, caring homes to children and youth ages 0 to 18 who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to live with their own families. Committed and highly skilled staff and foster parents ensure that individual social, educational, emotional and physical needs of the children are met until they are able to return home, are adopted or another permanent solution is arranged for their care. Children are eligible for Foster Care if they have been removed from a home situation and are determined by Child and Family Services as needing an alternative home.

Process

McMan works with the child to establish a ‘best-fit’ match with foster homes and caregivers, not just a match based on availability. Achieving a successful pairing is an integral part of the success of our Foster Care program. When working with the McMan Foster Care team, an individualized service plan is developed based on needs and any areas of additional support. Supplementary assessments can also be facilitated. Regular and frequent visits from a support worker help evaluate goal achievement success. Extensive data-tracking, sound paper-work and evidence based information is also completed for each child.

We are able to offer a variety of family support programs under the McMan program umbrella once a long-term placement has been made.

Outcomes

The most desirable outcome is to achieve permanency back in a home with a parent or alternative permanent care. 24/7 on-call support is available for our foster families.

Success Stories

Three young brothers came to McMan Foster Care having lived for years with abuse and neglect. After one year living in a foster home with caring and skilled parents the boys adapted very quickly to a healthy family lifestyle. An adoptive home was found and the boys settled in with their new family. Today, these boys are doing well and are still in contact with their foster parents.
